About River of Stories
The River of Stories project aims to use a variety of community engagement techniques, a story lab, storytelling and digital and social media to share stories, ideas and solutions for a sustainable future within the Murray Darling Basin.
Since 2008, we’ve been hearing stories from creative and courageous people who share one thing in common, their connection to the Rivers within the Murray Darling Basin. These individuals are connected to the rivers through their life and work. The River of Stories team believe that we all bear great responsibility for each other, the environment and our shared water resource.
Our vision is to use a variety of community engagement techniques to develop a living history library of films.
The films will be available for free from our website, select social media sites and community events.
Through the use of film, community engagement and story gathering, we will offer opportunities for people to share stories and explore other stories and deepen their experience with the different facets of a sustainable River System for all.
We hope that by sharing our diverse stories, ideas and innovations—within the fields of environmental sustainability, fare water use, conflict resolution, spirituality, art, economics, indigenous culture, and social justice—others will be inspired to share their stories about solutions to personal and community challenges from their own lived understanding.
